The Hands of H.O.P.E. ministry exists to encourage our parishioners to reflect God’s compassion by Helping Other People Excel. Through service, support, and education, we strive to uplift individuals and families to build a stronger, more hopeful community rooted in love.
We serve one neighbor, one family, one act of mercy, and one opportunity at a time.
Guided by Catholic social teaching, we respond through prayer, service, support, education, and accompaniment. Volunteers will be encouraged to begin service opportunities with prayer and reflection, grounding all outreach in faith and recognizing Christ in those we serve.
If you are interested in participating, please call the Rectory (973-226-0221) or reach out to the Coordinator directly: Coordinator: Msgr. Emery, [email protected]
Our Three Pillars of the Ministry:
Pillar 1:Parish & Immediate Community Care Direct assistance to Saint Aloysius parishioners and local neighbors through initiatives such as an emergency assistance fund, meals for families in crisis, transportation support, elder companionship, school supply assistance, and seasonal giving programs.
Pillar 2:Local & Regional Outreach
Partnerships with local and regional organizations serving Essex County and surrounding communities. Examples include Saint John’s Soup Kitchen and other food pantries, shelters, Catholic Charities, hospitals, and organizations supporting women, children, and families in need.
Activities may include providing meals and serving at food kitchens, supporting shelters, preparing seasonal care kits for those less fortunate, providing comfort items for children and the elderly, and hosting adult and multi-generational outings to shelters and other support organizations that serve the community.
Pillar 3:Education, Advocacy & Global Human Dignity
Educational programming and faith formation focused on Catholic social teaching, respect for life, anti-human trafficking awareness, immigration and refugee support, poverty and housing insecurity, environmental stewardship, and global Catholic missions. Programming may include guest speakers, film discussions, parish-wide reflection nights during Advent and Lent, and youth engagement workshops.
